What is the difference between recovery lab and some other recovery centers?

At Recovery Lab we pride ourselves on helping educate you further on our modalities so that you learn the why and how to get the most out of your sessions with us. We are also a boutique offering, meaning our Infrared Sauna rooms are completely private for your session, we have a semi private cold plunge area, and your ice bath booking means you have your ice bath all to yourself, (no sharing during your plunge) unless of course you bring a friend and you want to plunge together. We have private rooms for Compex and NuCalm, and our Recovery Boot lounge is a great way spot for you to switch off or even catchup on those emails for the day. 

What temperature are your Ice baths?

Our Ice Baths will be set between 8-10 degrees. Research suggests that these are some of the optimal temperature for cold water therapy and getting the benefits You can do cold plunging from any range from 15degrees to 6 degrees, but there is no real added benefit the colder you go. 

Do you have showers and change rooms?

At our Recovery Lab studios we all have change room and shower facilities. So if you are needing to pop in before or after work or during a lunch break we have you covered. 

Do you do casual visits / sessions?

Absolutely, at Recovery Lab we offer casual visits and sessions ranging from 20mins to 60mins are available to book. We ask that you book your sessions prior to arriving to avoid dissapointment, as bookings are limited each day. Download the app, create an account, choose you session, day and time, checkout and you will be good to go. Please ensure you fill in any waivers or health screening forms which will be sent to you via email prior to arriving.

do you sell gift cards?

Yes we do sell gift cards. Please either head to the locations page you wish to purchase for, or drop into studio and you can choose an amount to load onto a gift card and have the voucher emailed to your recipient for them to activate and use in that location.

Do you have memberships?

Yes, at Recovery Lab we offer membership options to best fit your recovery needs. A Recovery Lab membership is the best way to get the most out of your sessions week to week. You can view all available options at your closest Recovery Lab studio via the Recovery Lab App. 

Are your Sauna's private?

At Recovery Lab when you book an Infrared Sauna, you can rest assured that this is a private space for yourself, or for an extra fee you can bring a friend to enjoy the space with you. 

Are your Ice Baths communal?

At Recovery Lab we have a semi private ice bath area. Meaning that for your booking you will be designated your own Ice Bath so you can relax and carry out your session without any interruptions. The Ice Bath space will generally house between 2 – 4 Ice Baths side by side, so there may be others in the area, but you will always be designated your own for your booking. 

What do I wear?

For your sessions, if you are doing an Ice Bath or Infrared Sauna we encourage your to bring your own towels or towel hire is available at reception. Towels must be used to sit on in your Infrared Saunas. If you are doing an Ice Bath Session it is always a good idea to bring some warm clothing with you to wear afterwards to help you body warm up naturally after your plunge. For compression boots wear comfortable clothing with no sharp zips or leg jewellery to be worn. Gym tights or shorts for the ladies, and shorts or track pants for the men are best for our compression boots. We also encourage you to bring a water bottle with you for your Ice Bath or Sauna sessions, so you can stay sufficiently hydrated.

It's my First Infrared Sauna Session, what to expect?

Starting your first infrared sauna session at Recovery Lab? Expect a warm and cozy environment where infrared rays heat your body directly, making it feel soothing rather than stifling. As you gradually warm up, you’ll begin to sweat, aiding detoxification, improving circulation, easing muscle soreness, and relieving joint pain. This deeply relaxing experience can also promote better sleep and clearer skin. Our team will help set you up and guide you on the correct temperature and timing for your session, ensuring you get the most out of the experience. For the best experience, stay hydrated, wear comfortable clothing, start with shorter sessions, and give yourself time to cool down afterward. If you have any health conditions like cardiovascular issues, asthma, or are pregnant, consult your doctor first. Enjoy the soothing heat and let it work its magic!

It's my Ice first Bath Session, what to expect?

Starting your first ice bath session at Recovery Lab? Prepare for a refreshing and invigorating experience. You’ll be guided through the process by our team. As you immerse yourself in the cold water, you’ll feel your body respond with a quick, initial shock, followed by a calming sensation. This process helps reduce inflammation, soothe sore muscles, boost your immune system, and improve your mood and mental state. For the best results, practice deep, steady breathing to help your body adapt. Our team will ensure you’re comfortable and will support you through every step. Remember to bring warm clothes for afterward, and consult your doctor if you have any health conditions. Embrace the chill and feel the benefits unfold!

Is it safe to use an Infrared Sauna with Implants?

Yes, it’s generally safe to use an infrared sauna if you have implants. Infrared saunas heat the body directly, so they don’t usually affect implants, whether they’re silicone, saline, or metal. However, always check with your doctor or surgeon to be sure, especially if your implants are fresh or you’re recovering from surgery. Our team at Recovery Lab will ensure your session is set up comfortably and safely for you. If in doubt, it’s always best to consult a healthcare professional. Can I use an infrared Sauna while pregnant?

Using an infrared sauna during pregnancy is generally not recommended. The high heat can pose risks, such as overheating, dehydration, and changes in blood pressure, which can be harmful to both you and your baby. Always consult with your healthcare provider before using an infrared sauna or any other heat therapy during pregnancy. Your health and safety come first, so it’s best to err on the side of caution. Stay safe and take care!

Can I cold Plunge with a heart condition?

Cold plunging with a heart condition can be risky. The sudden exposure to cold water can cause a rapid change in heart rate and blood pressure, which might strain your cardiovascular system. It’s crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before attempting a cold plunge or any form of cold therapy if you have a heart condition. Your doctor can provide personalized advice based on your specific health situation. Always prioritize safety and follow professional medical guidance. Stay safe!

How long do I stay in the Ice Bath?

For your first ice bath, start with a short duration to allow your body to adapt. Aim for about 1-2 minutes initially. As you get more comfortable with the process, you can gradually increase the time, typically up to 8-11 minutes. Always listen to your body and get out if you start feeling too uncomfortable or numb. Remember to consult your healthcare provider before starting ice baths, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. Stay safe and enjoy the benefits of cold therapy!  Reminder that if you are considering doing cold water exposure, the minimum effective dose to achieve the benefits of ice baths is 11 minutes per week TOTAL! Not per session.
